SmartMesh IP networks are populated by motes, the nodes on the network. Based on Dust Network's breakthrough Eterna™ technology, DN6000 motes are ultra low power, extending battery life to years and many times that of competing products. In addition to extra long battery life, the motes feature an advanced array of features.
| Feature | Benefit |
| 8x Lower Power | Based on Eterna™ 802.15.4e SoC technology, extends battery life to years |
| Highly Integrated Hardware | Includes the DC-to-DC converter, on board PA, and antenna-matching circuitry. |
| Pre-engineered RF | RF elements are pre-tuned for optimized performance, saving development time. |
| Single Mote Type | All nodes are full-functioned routers. Retains the flexibility to configure nodes as non-routing if desired to save even more power. Allows easy expandability of the network and avoids the complexity of having distinct routers vs. non-routing end nodes. |
| Battery Powered Routers | Can build out a network without any line powered devices. Flexibility to be line powered or energy harvested if desired. |
| Highly Accurate Time Stamping | Time stamping on every node is available to applications with millisecond accuracy |
| Silent RF Mode | Temporarily turns off RF transmissions for radio (RF) sensitive sensor measurements |
| Location Aware (optional) |
Motes can be queried for their current location |
| Energy Harvesting Support | Very low power design enables motes to be powered by a wide variety of energy harvesters |
| Advanced Software Design for Simple Integration | Mote API simply becomes the wireless interface for your application. The mote can also provide readings for a specific set of functions, e.g., temperature and humidity, for use in your application. |
| Multiple Peripheral Interfaces | Includes I2C, SPI, 1-Wire®, GPIOs, and UART interfaces |
| Integrated Temperature Sensor | Precise temperature sensor is integrated directly into the mote. |
| Standards-based | Based on 6LowPAN and IEEE 802.15.4e standard |
