Dust Networks’ SmartMesh-XT™ PM2130 manager is the companion unit to the M2135 mote.  As with the mote, the manager operates using industry-standard 802.15.4 radios in the license-free 2.4 GHz band for global applications.  The PM2130 manager works along with M2135 motes to create a self-configuring, highly reliable wireless mesh network.

A compact, self-contained board, the PM2130 provides configuration, management and gateway functions for a network of M2135 motes. The unit is equipped with a power amplifier for extended range (up to 300 meters outdoors). It includes processor and memory, embedded networking software and interfaces to host systems. PM2130 managers run advanced algorithms that continuously optimize network performance and reliability to accommodate changing RF and environmental conditions. The combination of extremely high reliability and low power consumption enables applications that require very low installation cost for long-term, low-maintenance deployments.

The PM2130 also hosts a well-defined application interface that allows programmatic access to network control commands, performance statistics and connectivity details. This interface can be accessed through a built-in Ethernet port, or one of two built-in serial ports.  Typically designed into controllers or gateways, PM2130 managers provide a simple and low-risk means to integrate advanced mesh networking intelligence into monitoring and control products.
